THATTA, Dec 26: Due to corruption prevailing in the police department, people are getting no proper response for solution of their problems. Talking to people at an open kutchehry in Mirpur Bathoro town on Tuesday, adviser to the Sindh chief minister on home affairs, Waseem Akhtar, said concrete steps were being taken to bring revolutionary changes in the police department.
He said, he was apprised of the police atrocities and its indifferent attitude towards public problem and that is why he was holding open kutchehries in the interior of the province to get a clear picture of the situation.
He said the local waderas and their agents have made the police department their personal asset just to harass the poor people.
Later, talking to newsmen, Mr Waseem Akhtar, said he was of the view that without the consent of the people of Sindh, construction of Kalabagh dam and other water projects would be futile. He said, he did not favour sale of islands to foreign company as well as and dislocation of the people from their ancestral land.
