PESHAWAR, Dec 26: Tuesday’s bomb explosion near the airport was the sixth blast that rocked the provincial capital over the past three months, claiming nine lives and leaving 50 others injured. The perpetrators of the blasts have not been apprehended.

An explosion in a parking area adjacent to the West Cantonment police station in September had damaged 25 vehicles.

The most deadly of the bomb explosions left six people dead and 39 others injured in a crowded market near Jinnah Park in October.

A bomb exploded near a bus terminal in the city on Oct 12, injuring a fruit seller.

A suicide bomber from a local village killed himself and wounded two policemen when he targeted a police van on Nov 17.

A bomb attached to a motorcycle exploded in the Defence Officers’ Colony killing one person on Dec 1.

Some other minor blasts also took place in empty places but they did not cause any damage.

Police are yet to make any headway in investigation into any of the attacks, although teams led by different officers were formed for the purpose.
