LAHORE, Dec 22: Justice Fazle Miran Chohan of the Lahore High Court on Friday extended until Jan 15 pre-arrest bail of Faisal Farooq, chief executive of a local sweets company, and three other people in a car accident case that killed two-and-a-half-month-old son of a manager of a mobile phone company.

Faisal Farooq, his uncles Mahmood, Maqsood and their manager were granted bail before arrest by this court earlier his week after their request for pre-arrest bail was rejected on Dec 11 by local additional district and sessions judge Syed Imam Ali Shah.

The accused were allowed bail by a city magistrate. They fled from the court of the ADSJ and, later, moved the LHC for bail, which was granted.

The accused stated before the LHC that he did not kill the infant intentionally and that he died in an accident.

Faisal’s sports car had hit Waseem Sajjad’s when he was traveling with his mother, wife and infant son in November. The crash left the infant dead. A case was registered against Faisal.

The accused and three other people went to the hospital where Waseem Sajjad, his mother and wife were under treatment. They allegedly pressured Waseem for a compromise. On refusal, they allegedly threatened him with dire consequences. The police registered another case against them.
