SIALKOT, Dec 21: Daska Additional District and Sessions Judge Khwaja Zafar Iqbal has directed ASP Tanveer Alam to hold an impartial inquiry on the allegations that Satrah police had shaved off the head, moustache and eyebrows of a shrine’s caretaker during the custody.

The judge has taken notice of excesses against Muhammad Shabbir on a writ petition submitted by the victim through Advocate Malik Sakhawat Ali.

According to the petition, about 15 days ago Satrah police station SHO (inspector) Salahuddin Butt and other officials — Bashir, Amin, Shahbaz and Liaquat Ali — stormed into the shrine of Baba Chiragh Shah at Chicharwali village and took into custody caretaker Shabbir. The police, read petition, tortured and dragged Shabbir in a local market and took him to the Satrah police station where they shaved off his head, moustache and eyebrows. Not only did they stop there, they also implicated him in a narcotics case, it added. — Correspondent
