KARACHI, Dec 21: The provincial government and the Majlis Tahaffuz-i-Hudood Allah, Sindh, have agreed to keep a watch on miscreants during the Friday strike, called by the Majlis, to ensure that no untoward incident occurs in the city. Both sides decided that local Majlis leaders, TPOs and SHOs would man all sensitive spots in the city for the purpose.

The decision was taken at a meeting between government officials and a delegation representing the Majlis at the Home Department on Thursday.

The ulema said that the strike would be peaceful as no rally would be taken out.

The meeting was told that after Friday prayers, a peaceful demonstration would, however, be staged. The delegation asked the authorities not to force people to open their shops or transporters to bring their vehicles on roads.

CCPO Tariq Jamil told the meeting that committees at local level had been formed to monitor situation and maintain liaison with area notables during the strike.

He said ulema should tell people to prevent their children from indulging in stone-throwing and burning tyres on road.
