Bahria College cagers triumph

KARACHI, Dec 20: Bahria College Karsaz stunned defending champion and the hosts Sir Syed College 18-16 in a nerve-tingling match to cruise into the final of Karachi Board Inter-collegiate Girls Basketball tournament at the latter’s court on Wednesday.

The winners who led 14-12 at half time maintained their lead until the final whistle thus ending Sir Syed College’s stranglehold in basketball.

Bushra who was again instrumental in her team’s triumph scored 14 points. Urooj contributed four points to complete the tally. Sherish Wazir Ali top scored for losers with eight points. Other scorers were Qurratul Ain (4), Aimel Fahim (2) and Shiza (2).

Bahria College Karsaz are slated to meet St. Joseph’s College in the final as the latter carved out 31-22 victory over Bahria College, M. T. Khan Road, in the other pre-final.

St. Joseph’s victory revolves around three players — Fernandes Rock (14), Maham (10) and Maliha (7). Sana (8), Amna (8) and Javeria (6) were the principal scorers for losers.

The final between Bahria College Karsaz and St. Joseph’s College will be played after vacations.
