SANGHAR, Dec 20: The three Muttahida Qaumi Movement activists, who were kidnapped about a month ago, safely reached their homes safely on Wednesday. They were picked-up by a group of armed men while returning from Tando Adam.

The activists, Aslam Qaimkhani, Adnan and Ayoub, told newsmen that they were released by their captors near Sakrand bypass.

Narrating their ordeal, they said, about eight people, armed with G3 rifles, Kalashnikov and rocket launchers, in a double cabin pick-up intercepted their car on Mirabad road and pushed them in the vehicle while their car was driven away by one of them which was later abandoned at Tando Adam.

They further said that the kidnappers blindfolded them and tied their hands and after about three hours’ drive, they reached in a hilly area.

They said that the kidnappers pressured them to ask their relatives over mobile phone to arrange ransom and added that the captors kept on changing their hideouts. They said that they were unaware of any deal or payment of ransom.

The police had been raiding Salamat Keerio, Soomer Keerio, Jamal Hajano and Rano Laghari villages and arrested a number of people, including women related to bandits Jafar and Badal Keerio to mount pressure for release of the activists.

Badal and Jafar Keerio are active in the area and involved in a number of kidnapping for ransom cases.
