Wapda men told to improve performance

TIMERGARA, Feb 17: District Nazim Dr Yaqoob Khan has asked the Wapda officials to improve their performance and take prompt action for the redress of problems being faced by the people.

He was addressing the council session of District Lower Dir held on Saturday at the Education Complex Hall, Balambat Colony. The session was presided over by Haji Rasool Khan.

“People have been facing many problems specially late distribution of electricity bills, long duration loadshedding and meter readers’ misbehaviour, besides other problems, but no step has been taken to remove these complaints. Despite the fact that a free hand has been given to Wapda to take action against those involved in power theft nothing has been done to stop the practice,” the Nazim said.

He said that Wapda officials were equally responsible for the power theft and directed them to take immediate steps to solve the problems being faced by the people.

The Nazim said that the district had many hydel resources which could be utilized to produce cheaper electricity but due to certain conditions of Wapda these lying unused.

He said that the law and order situation in the district was not according to his expectations and directed the police officials to serve the people.
