Iran wants to increase import of rice

KARACHI, Dec 18: Iran’s Deputy Commerce Minister and Managing Director of Trading Corporation Sadegh Mufateh has advised rice exporters to follow banking channels and also include other varieties of rice for export to Tehran.

During his meeting with Chairman Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (Reap) Abdul Aziz Maniya here on Monday, he asked the rice exporters to include such varieties like Pk-198 and Irri-6 for export to Iran.

The Iranian minister inspected the offices of Quality Review Committee (QRC) where quality control procedures of Reap were shown to him. Sadegh Mufateh, who was accompanied by Consul General of Iran Musa Huseini, and Commercial Attaché Manochehr Rezaei, also visited some rice processing units.
