KARACHI: Constable shot dead

KARACHI, Dec 17: A police constable was shot dead in Garden area late on Saturday night. Police said Constable Zahid Iqbal, 40, posted in Saddar Town was in an internet café near Azeem Plaza in Nabi Bux police limits when he was shot at.

Quoting the statement of eyewitnesses, police said two persons came on a motorcycle. One of them went inside the café and opened fire before fleeing.

Police said Zahid suffered seven bullet wounds, causing his instant death. Police shifted the body to the Civil Hospital for postmortem examination.

Following the legal formalities, his body was sent to his native town in Punjab. Police were investigating the case, but could not immediately ascertain the motive behind the killing.

BODIES FOUND: Four unidentified bodies were found from different parts of the city on Sunday.

Police said a body of 35-year-old man was found from a deserted place near Ghazi Goth on Sunday morning. The body bore multiple bullet wounds. Police shifted the body to the Civil Hospital for postmortem.

In Orangi, police found a body with a single bullet wound in head in a graveyard. Police shifted the body to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for postmortem examination.

In Gulistan-i-Jauhar, the body of a 45-year-old man was found from a deserted place in Block-19. The body bore torture marks. Police shifted the body to the Jinnah Hospital for postmortem examination where doctors said the head injury showed it was hit by a blunt object.

In Gora Qabristan, police found an unidentified body behind the bushes on the pavement close to the junction of the Korangi Road and Sharae Faisal. Police shifted the body to the Jinnah Hospital for legal formalities.

ACCIDENTS: Two boys died in road accidents on Sunday.

Police said Mobin, 3, was playing outside his house when he was knocked down to death by a car near Quaidabad.

Following the accident, area people caught the driver and set the car on fire.

In a hit-and-run accident, a 12-year-old body died in Shah Latif police limits. The boy was identified as Sherzada. His body was taken to the Jinnah Hospital for legal formalities.
