SYDNEY, Oct 18: Don Bradman’s ashes were scattered over the oval named after him in Bowral near Sydney Thursday, Australian media have reported.

Bradman’s son John and three grandchildren took part in the ceremony which included 60 invited guests, an Australian television report said.

Bradman died in his Adelaide home in South Australia state on Feb 25 this year, aged 92. He was cremated during a family service on

March 1.

Born in Cootamundra in New South Wales state in 1908, Bradman was raised in Bowral, 80 kilometres (50 miles) south west of Sydney.

He made his first century in 1920 for Bowral High School against Mittagong.

Bradman scored 6,996 runs in 52 Tests at an average of 99.94, a record which is unrivalled in cricket.—Reuters
