KARACHI, Dec 13: The Sindh High Court on Wednesday sought report from the authority concerned regarding measures taken to protect and monitor environment in their respective limits, before the next date of hearing, in a petition seeking directives for the removal of industrial toxic chemical waste from the open plots in SITE Town.

The division bench comprising Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah adjourned the hearing till January 1.

The bench was also informed about the non-availability of the SSP of ADRC, Sanaullah Abbasi, who is engaged in some training project.

During the previous proceedings, Senior Superintendent of Police Anti Dacoity and Robbery Cell Sanaullah Abbasi was assigned by the court to present report about the matter.

Petitioners Nawab Ali and five others are seeking the removal of the industrial chemical toxic waste from plot nos. F-620 and F-621 in SITE Town.

They have also prayed that industrial units operating in SITE are required to submit their Environmental Monitoring Reports in accordance with the provision of the National Environmental Quality Standards (Self Monitoring and Reporting by Industry) Rules 2001.—APP
