ISLAMABAD, Dec 13: Federal Minister for Textile Industry Mushtaq Ali Cheema has asked the consultants to include open-ended spinning units in the analysis to work out an effective strategy for the promotion of spinning sector.

According to an official announcement he stated this while reviewing a benchmarking study of the spinning sector here on Wednesday. Syed Masood Alam Rizvi and other senior officials of the ministries of textile and commerce were present during the review session.

The study has been prepared by Werner Consultancy on the selected spinning units in Pakistan. The study reveals prevalent loopholes in the entire supply-chain management of the spinning sector vis-a-vis China, India, and Bangladesh etc.

The minister emphasised on the need of including open-ended spinning units in the analysis. He commended the findings of the study and urged upon the consultant to finalise the balance studies in shortest possible time.

The Werner Consultants will prepare ten studies on textile industry covering weaving, spinning, home textile, knitwear, ginning, denim and towel sectors. Two studies on spinning and weaving sectors have already been prepared and the consultant gave presentation on spinning sector, while the presentation on weaving sector will be given on December 19. The remaining studies will be completed in two months time.
