PESHAWAR, Dec 12: Awami National Party president Senator Asfandyar Wali Khan on Tuesday announced that his party would never enter into any alliance with pro-Musharraf parties in the upcoming elections.
He was addressing a gathering where Mohammad Ishaque and dozens of his relatives and companions joined the ANP.
The function was also addressed by senior vice-president Ghulam Ahmed Bilour, Syed Aqil Shah, Bashir Bilour, Mian Iftikhar Hussain and Malik Mustafa.
Mr Khan said that religious parties would never resign from parliament as they knew that they could not win a re-election.
He said alleged that the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal was `B team’ of the Musharraf-led government and said that by not attending the National Assembly, the MMA would provide a freehand to the treasury benches in the legislation process.
He said the ANP had always struggled for provincial rights and supported democratic parties for revival of genuine democracy in the country.
The ANP leader said that Gen Musharraf was giving an impression to the world that Pakhtuns were the Taliban and the Taliban were more dangerous than the Al Qaeda. “This will damage the image of Pakhtuns worldwide.”
