HYDERABAD, Dec 12: Affidavits of nine more prosecution witnesses by the counsel of Nadra Parveen, were filed on Tuesday before the District and Sessions Judge Hyderabad, Mr Zafar Ahmed Khan Sherwani, who is holding an inquiry into the matter on the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

These witnesses claimed that they were also victims of the Taluka Nazim of Kunri, Mohammad Jam Memon.

The counsel for the victim also filed an application praying the court to summon a retired DSP Amb Khan Magsi, Manthar Bhaiyo, reader to the DIG, Mirpurkhas and SHO of Umerkot police station, Umer Dars.

Through a separate application, he requested the court to direct the SHO Kunri police station, Ghulam Mustafa Abro, to produce personal file (registration No 10) before the court. However, no order was passed on the application.

All the PWs testified that they knew Nadra Parveen and her husband, who are respectable people and declared Taluka Nazim Jam Memon as “a man of bad character”.

Suleman Chandio, a witness said that he was also victim of Jam Memon because due to political enmity and at his instigation staff of Kunri police station and police station Nabisar raided his house, arrested him in a blind FIR and other innocent villagers. “I was detained for eight days. ASI Musadaq Arain maltreated us along with other police officials and on payment of Rs5,000 we were released", he said in his affidavit.

Other witnesses, Yaqoob Umer, Ghulam Rasool, Mohammad Jameel, Abdul Kareem, Mohammad Ali, Ali Mohammad, Shamsuddin Junejo and Parveen Akhtar also made identical statements in their affidavits.

They said that they and their family members were implicated in a false case by Kunri police at the instigation of the taluka nazim.

Defending the taluka nazim, DPO Lal Mohammad Abro, in his affidavit, said that son of the victim Shahbuddin was involved in a kidnapping case vide FIR no 84/04 and also in an extortion case. He said that a direct complaint, filed by Mohammad Shafi Arain, the father-in-law of the applicant, against two police officers was dismissed by the session judge Umar Kot on May 9, 2006.

The SHO of Town police station, Mirpurkhas, Nazar Mohammad Panwhar, also filed his affidavit.
