Fine display by Hyder-IV

KARACHI, Dec 10: Hyder-IV did splendid job in first three rounds as the K. C. Open bridge tournament commenced at the Karachi Club on Saturday with 17 teams competing for the prime honour.

Hyder foursome had services of Nuri Pasha, Iqbal Hyder, Shahid Khan, Mohammed Nasim and Farhat Abbas. They beat Ahmed-IV 25-5, Four Bidders 22-8 and Hadi 16-14. They were leading the bunch with 63 V.P.

Hadi with Rashid Jafer, Kemal Shoaib, Kurshid Hadi, Tahir Masud, Javed Ahmed and Sarfraz Khan were close to the leaders on points table, winning two matches and losing one.

Other prominent teams were Giants with three straight wins against Candyland, Data Steel and K. C. (Reza). Data Steel fielded two teams.

Candyland looked good but could not win with maximum margin.—PPI
