TIMERGARAH (Lower Dir), Dec 10: Family members of two brothers allegedly picked up by an intelligence agency more than two weeks ago have appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to ensure their recovery. They said they were concerned over the brothers’ safety.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry is currently hearing a case pertaining to disappearance of 40 people, who have allegedly been detained by intelligence agencies.

Gul Rehman’s sons Shaukat Ali and Liaqat Ali have yet not been produced in any court, neither their relatives have been informed of their whereabouts.

Their relatives told journalists here on Sunday that the two brothers were innocent and they were not charged in any case. They said Shaukat was a seed dealer running a shop in Dir and Liaqat was a taxi driver.

They said 17 days ago, Shaukat, 35, was picked up by officials of an intelligence agency in presence of many people, and was taken away in a car. They said his brother Liaqat contacted offices of different agencies but to no avail.

Three days later, Liaqat was also picked near Shergarh in Mardan while he was driving his cab.

The brothers feared that the brothers might have been arrested in connection with the Dargai suicide bombing. However, they said, they had no links with any militant organisation.
