KARACHI, Dec 9: The Pakistan Society for Rheumatology will hold its 11th annual conference on “Rheumatology in the Developing Countries – Challenges and Solutions” from March 4 to 6 in collaboration with the Baqai Medical University.
This was disclosed by Prof Abdul Basit, Director of the Institute of Diabetology and Endocrinology, at a press conference here on Monday.
He said that about 600 local and foreign delegates would participate in the conference, aimed at sharing the advancement and latest research made in the fields of rheumatology and joints pains.
Dr Shakil Beg said that rheumatology problem had become a serious issue in developing countries, including Pakistan, and different studies had given to understand that almost 80 per cent people of any country could contract the disease at any stage in their life.
The services rendered by BMU Chancellor Prof F. U. Baqai was eulogised on the occasion. He was felicitated on receiving the life time achievement award from the government of Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Baqai said that the award was not only a sign of trust in him, but it also required from him and all those associated with his institution to work with more zest and responsibility for further improvement in the quality of life.
