KARACHI: By-election schedule

KARACHI, Dec 8: The by-elections for three women and two peasants/workers seats in five towns of Karachi district will be held on December 27 while nominations will be received on December 12 and 13. This was announced by the election commission.

According to the election schedule, out of the three women seats, one each in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, New Karachi and Gulberg Towns, while of the two peasant/worker seats one is in Laiquatabad Town and the other inJamshed Town.

The names of candidates who will file nominations papers would be made public on December 14, objections can be filed on December 15. Scrutiny of the nominations will be held the next day while appeals against acceptance and rejection of the nominations can be filed by December 18 which will be disposed the next day.

Candidates can withdraw their nomination papers by December 20. The list of candidates will be published on December 21 along with their election symbol. Polling will be held on December 27 and the result announced next day.

According to a notification, the by-elections schedule would also be followed in Tangwani Taluka council in Kashmore district and in Kotri Taluka in Jamashoro district for one women seat in each Taluka council. Likewise against one seat of peasants/workers each in Pithoro Taluka in Umerkot District and one in Mehrabpur Taluka Council in Naushero Feroze District against workers / peasants seat. The election will be held on December 27.
