DOHA, Dec 5: Pakistanis gave poor performance in the preliminary races of the Doha Asian Games sailing competition at the Doha Sailing Club here on Tuesday.

Both the male and female sailors failed to impress and the most notable performer among them was Abdur Rehman who took the third place in the men Optimistic race one with three points.

Malaysia’s Yahya Faizani was at the top with one point in the same event.

Pakistan’s ace sailor Byram Avari Xerxes paired with Mahboob Rafiq took the number 8th place in the 470 men race one with eight race points, the bottom position among the eight competing pairs. Singapore's duo of Terence Koh and Zhen Yuan Xu took one point as the race’s top position holders.

In Laser Radail open race one, Pakistan’s Ahsfaq Iqbal captured the seventh place with eight points while another Pakistani Mohammad Yousuf was at the 11th place in the Laser Men race two with 11 race points.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s 13-year-old girl Ghazal Masood claimed the seventh place in the Optimistic race one, having gained seven points.—APP
