GUJRANWALA, Dec 4: Students and their parents have urged the Punjab government and the Education department to launch civil technology classes in Government Technical Institute, Gujranwala.
They said here on Sunday that scores of students, including girls, wanted to get education in the civil technology. They said most of students had to go to Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot and other distant cities for seeking education in this discipline. Parents had to bear heavy expenditures in this regard.
BAIL PLEAS ACCEPTED: The local anti-terrorism court No 1 on Monday accepted bail applications of as many as 90 activists of Muttahida Majlis Amal, including JI central vice-president Hafiz Idrees Ahmad and JUI-F leader Mualana Abdul Malik Shah, and ordered their release.
The court ordered them to submit surety bonds worth Rs50,000 each.
Some 40 activists were arrested by Gujrat A division and civil line police and 50 by Kotwali police on the eve of the Nov 30 caravan.
HELD: Three prayer leaders were booked on charges of violation of ban on use of loudspeakers here on Monday.
Police said Maulana Ghulam Mustafa of Lungiawali Morr (Wazirabad), Hafiz Saleem Awais of Mandiala Road and Syed Shabbir Husain Shah of Labour Colony Rahwali violated the ban. However, no arrest was made.
