KARACHI: MMA slams denial of rally

KARACHI, Dec 4: City chief of the Jamaat-i-Islami Dr Mairajul Huda Siddiqui has condemned the local administration for denying permission for holding a women rally against amendments to the Hudood laws at Mazar-i-Quaid on Tuesday.

Describing the attitude as ‘undemocratic’, he deplored that while the request for holding women’s rally was rejected, the MQM was granted permission to stage a rally on the same day and at the same venue. He said this attitude was tantamount to blocking a peaceful rally and pushing the city towards violence.

Accompanied by President of MMA, Karachi chapter, Siddique Rathor and MNA Mohammad Hussain Mehanti, Dr Siddiqui was speaking at an emergency press conference on Monday night at Idara Noor-i-Haq.
