India drop Gagan

NEW DELHI, Feb 16: Forward Gagan Ajit Singh, who led the Indian team to the junior world cup in Hobart last year, was left out of the 18-player Indian squad named Friday for the World Cup in Kuala Lumpur.

Midfielder Baljit Singh Saini, who recovered recently from a bout of chicken pox, has been named to the squad for the tournament which starts on Feb 24.

Squad: Jude Menezes, Devesh Chauhan, Dilip Tirkey, Lazarus Barla, Kanwalpreet Singh, Jugraj Singh, Sukhbir Gill, Ignace Tirkey, S.Thirumalvalavan, Arjun Halappa, Baljit Singh Saini, Dhanraj Pillay, Daljit Singh Dhillon, Deepak Thakur, Prabhjot Singh, Baljit Singh Dhillon, Sabu Varkey, Bipin Fernandez.—Reuters
