PARACHINAR, Dec 1: About many as 40 cases of Aids have been registered in the Kurram Agency so far, speakers said at a function held to mark the World Aids Day here on Friday.

They expressed concern over high prevalence of Aids in the area, saying that the number was the highest as compared with other tribal agencies.

Agency Surgeon Dr Gulab Hussain said that Fata health services director had ordered launching of an awareness programme for tribesmen about HIV/Aids.

Other speakers said special care should be taken in blood transfusion to avoid spread of the disease.
