ISLAMABAD, Nov 30: A bitter tussle for the control of the Supreme Court Bar Association between two groups of lawyers ended on Thursday when the Pakistan Bar Council cancelled the Oct 31 SCBA elections and ordered re-election on Dec 18.

The fresh election to the 22-member SCBA body will be held under the supervision of a seven-member executive committee of the PBC.

The late-night decision came in the light of an 11-member Supreme Court bench direction to settle the dispute between the two claimants for the post of SCBA presidency, Muneer A. Malik and Raja Haq Nawaz, on an appeal of Muneer Malik.
