PIA reacts to bar report

Published December 1, 2006

LAHORE, Nov 30: Responding to the report of a fact-finding committee of the High Court Bar Association (Multan) on Fokker crash, the PIA clarified on Thursday saying: “The bar is not a competent authority to conduct such investigation. It is violation of national and international laws to conduct investigation for which state has already constituted a board of investigation under civil aviation rule 270. This may be construed as infringement in the domain of other legal entity.”

The PIA said that investigation was data driven and black boxes (flight data recorder, cockpit voice recorder) played vital role in it. Any report made without taking into such consideration was unauthentic.
