MIRPURKHAS, Feb 16: The growers and landlords have installed pumping machines for lifting water due to the continuous acute shortage of water in the district.

Reports said that the sale of water pumping machines had increased.

The growers and landlords have started purchasing pumping machines individually and collectively to save their crops.

MCCI: Mirpurkhas Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) President Khan Abdul Khaliq Khan and Vice President Abdul Majeed Shaikh have expressed concern over neglecting the MCCI during the visits of dignitaries to Mirpurkhas by the local administration.

Talking to Dawn on Friday, they said that the MCCI was an important forum and it had been playing vital role in the progress of the district.

They demanded of the Sindh governor to take notice of the matter and ensure issuing of invitations to the office-bearers of the MCCI by local administration on occasion of visit of dignitaries.

ASI SUSPENDED: The district police officer, Mirpurkhas, Dr Ameer Ahmed Shaikh, has suspended the ASI of Samaro police station, Niaz Bhurgari, for supporting criminals and appointed Shahnawaz Khaskheli as SHO of Samaro police station.

Reports said that some criminals were caught by villagers after chasing them and handed them over to the Samaro police, but the police did not take any legal action against them.

BIRTH ANNIVERSARY: To mark the 99th birth anniversary of the late G. M. Syed, the founder of the Jeay Sindh Movement, a ceremony was organised by the Jeay Sindh Mahaz, Mirpurkhas, here on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Khaliq Junejo paid rich tribute to the late G. M. Syed and said that the emancipation of the Sindhi people was in only following the teachings of the late Syed.

He said that Sindh had been made colony of Punjab as small nations was deprived of their rights. Rochi Ram, Zahoor Laghari, Ali Hassan Chandio and Gulshan Laghari also spoke on the occasion.
