KARACHI, Nov 29: Chairman, Pakistan Sports Trust (PST), Lt. Gen (retd) Syed Arif Hasan, on Wednesday announced to buy the lead sponsorship rights of the Feb 11 to 17 National Games by offering 20 million rupees to the hosts, Sindh.

He made this announcement at the formal relaunch of ‘Hero Pakistani’ raffle at a local hotel.

Arif, who also heads Pakistan Olympic Association (POA), presented the cheque to Sindh Sports Minister, Qamar Mansoor.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister disclosed that approximately 50 million rupees would be incurred on staging the biennial event in a befitting manner.

Earlier in the day, a 30-minute presentation was made to the PST chairman pertaining to hosting the games.

Meanwhile, a meeting of secretaries or representatives of concerned national federations has been convened in the city on Dec 9 to give final touches to the arrangements.

According to Sindh Olympic Association (SOA), 27 disciplines for men and 16 for women will be staged.

Men events include athletics, baseball, handball, hockey, judo, karate, kabaddi, netball, body building, boxing, rifle shooting, rowing, sailing, squash, swimming, gymnastics, badminton, football, cycling, table tennis, tae kwondo, tennis, tug of war, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling and wushu.

Demonstration (not medal sport): canoeing, softball.

Women events: athletics, badminton, cycling, gymnastics, hockey, judo, karate, netball, sailing, rifle shooting, squash, swimming, table tennis, tennis, tae kwondo and wushu.
