MUZAFFARABAD, Nov 27: Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Attiq Ahmad Khan on Monday inaugurated the first commercial bank of the AJK.

Talking to journalists, he said AJK would be the economic hub of the region in the near future because of initiation of economic cooperation between the two parts of the region as a result of the ongoing dialogue between Pakistan and India.

"The establishment of the bank will usher in an era of prosperity and stability for the people of the region," he remarked, adding that it would provide facilities for expatriate Kashmiris.

He appealed to oversees Kashmiris to invest in Kashmir to promote tourism, hydropower generation and industries in the area.

The bank’s Managing Director Raja Mumtaz said it would begin online and Islamic banking with branches across Kashmir.—Online
