SHIKARPUR, Nov 27: A police constable and the driver of a private pickup were seriously injured in an encounter between police and outlaws at the Deputy Jo Bungalow village in Garhi Yasin taluka on Monday.

The Garhi Yasin police acting on information that some outlaws wanted to police in a murder case of Aiwaz Ali Veesar were present in the village, sent a police party, led by Garhi Yasin police station SHO Abdul Hameed Khokhrani to raid the village to arrest the accused.

In a heavy exchange of fire between police and the outlaws, constable Noor Ahmed Marfani and driver Abdul Jabbar Brohi of the private pickup hired by police sustained bullet injuries.

However, the outlaws made good their escape. The injured were brought to the civil hospital of Shikarpur.

SUSPENDED: On Garhi Yasin TPO Mumtaz Ali Khuhro and Dakhan SHO Abdul Wahid Buriro have been suspended following complaints against them about their being negligent in duty.
