KOHAT, Nov 26: The labour department has turned down demands of contract employees of the Kohat Cement Company (KCC), who have been protesting for the last couple of days for raise in salaries and other benefits.The factory was shut down for a few hours on Saturday.

KCC general manger (administration) Col Shahadat told Dawn on Sunday that all units were running according to required capacity. The management had to close down the cement factory for few hours on Saturday when 225 contract employees went violent.

He said the employees’ union had been demanding bonus and payment of outstanding dues after raise in salaries which were against the contract signed by them.—Correspondent
