PESHAWAR, Nov 23: A collection of love letters titled ‘Magar Ye Ho Na Saka.’ The letters describe the feelings of love in an innovative way, besides raising serious questions about social behaviours and barriers. The book was launched at the press club here on Thursday.

“Discussing love is a taboo in our conservative society. We need to have debate on this subject and share our experiences with younger generations,” said Abdul Hai Kakar, the author, while speaking at the launching ceremony.

"Why don’t we discuss love! The love which creates awareness and purifies soul is worth-experiencing and everlasting. Such love never dies," said Mr Kakar, who is also a journalist. Speaking on the occasion, poet Sajjad Babar said when he first saw Mr Kakar’s collection of love letters, he advised him to publish them “as they not only talk about the beautiful feelings of love in an innovative way, but also contain a reflection of culture and comments on the prevailing socio-political situation.”

Terms and titles like Nakalkhore Aashiq, The Moon of 2005, Love and Globalisation, Love and Status Quo, Tears of a Mother and a Beloved, etc, had never been used before, he said.

Tariq Hashmi, literary critic, said the book is not just a collection of sentimental love letters, it also raises serious questions on social behaviours and barriers.

“The book is an expression of deep feelings of love, and is extension from an individual to the entire world,” he said.“The writer has also discussed outdated customs and situation of women in our society,” he said.
