PESHAWAR, Nov 21: A parliamentary party meeting of the NWFP chapter of the JUI criticised the Protection of Women’s Rights Bill by the National Assembly and termed it unconstitutional and in violation of the decisions of the Council of Islamic Ideology.

The meeting, held here on Tuesday, was president over by Malik Zafar Azam and attended by JUI parliamentarians.

The meeting said that the latest stand of the ruling PML chief, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, on bringing an amended version of the bill had justified the MMA stand on the matter.

The meeting asked Federal Minister Amir Muqam to resign because of the passage of an un-Islamic bill, otherwise, it ws said, the people of Shangla would have no option but to take to streets and force him to leave.

The meeting decided to hold a rally in Shangla and file a writ petition with the Peshawar High Court in order to ensure effective enforcement of the Shariat Act.
