KARACHI, Nov 18: Additional District and Session Judge, South, Ms Justice Farzana Anver Shah, ordered on Saturday the police to register a case against the FIA officials for illegally confining two lawyers in their custody.

The judge issued order to this effect on the complaint of Mohammed Khan Buriro advocate, who was earlier denied registration of the FIR against the officials of FIA’s Passport Circle by the Preedy police.

Advocate Buriro submitted before the court that he was engaged as lawyer by Hakim Khan who was booked under the Passport Act by the FIA Passport Circle.

He stated that he moved an application in the trial court on behalf of his client for the recovery of his personal articles seized by the FIA officials during his search.

Mr Buriro said that the trial court granted his application and passed an order accordingly. He said he along with his colleague went to the FIA Passport Circle at 5:30pm on Nov 11 and produced the copy of the court order to the FIA officials. FIA Inspector Anwar Shah, Sub-inspector Shafi and SI Tahir did not comply with the court orders, he said. The advocate alleged that the FIA officials kept him and his colleague in illegal confinement for over two hours and threatened them of dire consequences. He went to the Preedy police station to lodge an FIR against the FIA officials, however, police refused.

The court allowed the application of the lawyer and directed the SHO of Preedy police station to lodge the FIR against the FIA officials within three days.
