Lead prices plunge

Published November 14, 2006

LONDON, Nov 13: The price of lead sank by 12 pc on Monday, a sharp fall after the metal struck record highs last week.Analysts said that the downwards correction was because of macro-economic concerns, particularly over the US economic slowdown, which would hit demand for the metal. On the London Metal Exchange the price per ton for delivery of lead in three months sank to $1,470 per ton, a fall of $205 or 12 pc from late Friday.—AFP
