WASHINGTON, Oct 18: The New York-based National Unity Council of Pakistanis has issued a list of 53 Pakistanis - 43 men and nine women - that it confirms perished in the World Trade Centre on Sept 11.

The council’s president Iqbal Khan Jadoon told APP over telephone that it had been very difficult to draw up an authentic and verifiable list.

He appealed to the families of those whose names appeared in the list to get in touch with him to assist in the identification.

According to the list, Pakistani men who were confirmed dead in the incident are: Tariq Amanullah, Taimour Khan, Mohammad Salman Hamdani, Ehtasham U. Raja, Mohammad S. Chaudhry, Raza Mujtaba, Yusuf Saad, Samad Afridi, Badruddin Lakhani, Naveed Rahman, Qamar Malik, Umar Namoos, Asad Samir, Arslan Khan Khakwani, Ayub Khan, Qasim Ali Khan, Talat Hussain, Shahzad Hussain Khan, Ataullah Khan, Mian Mohammad, Asim Khan, Ahmad Ali, Umer Ahmed, Jameel Hussain, Jameel Swati, Azam Ahsan, W. Waheed. Mujeeb Qazi, Saleemullah Farooqi, Sahbbir Ahmed, Mohammad Abbas, Ahmad Ahsan, Amjad, Mohammad Haleem, Jumma Alhaque, Sultan Khan, Ahmed Noor, Kazi Ahmed, Shamsuddin Ahmed, Mubarak Ahmed, Syed Haq, Qazi Ahmad, Mohammad Shahjehan and Khalid Shahid.

The women in the list are: Tarranum Rahim and Humayra Rahim (sisters), Amena Rasool, Sanober Syed, Sarah Khan, Yasmeen Jamal, Zahida Khan, Yasmin Khan and Amena Aziz.—APP
