KARACHI, Nov 12: The four-day capacity building training workshop for police officers and members of the Citizens Police Liaison Committee concluded here on Saturday.

The officers of Excise and Taxation, Motor Registration Authority, Pakistan Customs and insurance companies also attended the workshop, which was organised by the CPLC.

At the concluding ceremony, AIG Police Tariq Jamil along with Chief CPLC Sharifuddin Memon gave away the certificates amongst the workshop participants.

CPLC chief Shariuddin Memon said that observing the rising trend of vehicle thefts over the past few months, the CPLC initiated this workshop to improve the technical skills of the investigators to check vehicle thefts. He assured that such training programmes would be carried out in future as well.

AIG Tariq Jamil appreciated the initiative taken by CPLC and urged the trainees to apply the techniques in their investigations to get maximum benefit out of the acquired training. Pointing at the increasing street crime, he said that police were taking steps to combat vehicle thefts and cellphone snatching.

The course was aimed at building the existing human resource capacity of the local law enforcement. The course instructors were invited from the Victoria Police, Australia and International Association of Auto Theft Investigators, the UK.—PPI
