LAHORE, Feb 15: Former Pakistan Hockey Federation president (PHF), Akhtar Rasool Chaudhary, has been declared ineligible for casting his vote as representative of Lahore District Hockey Association in the Punjab Hockey Association elections to be held Saturday.

Chaudhary was elected PHA representative from Lahore in the elections held on Jan 29, however, Pakistan Hockey Federation, decided against his eligibility as he has been convicted by the Supreme Court in a contempt of court case and therefore under the federation’s constitution can not contest for any seat.

The Lahore District Hockey Association has elected its new representative Chaudhary Iftikhar in his place.

Meanwhile, the re-elections in the Sheikhupura District were also held on Friday on the instructions of the PHF. It was learnt that Col. (retd.) Abdul Rauf has been elected as representative from the district for the Punjab Hockey Association instead of Olympian Naveed Alam who was earlier elected on Jan 31.
