PESHAWAR: Four die as roof collapses

PESHAWAR, Nov 11: At least four persons died including two minors and nine others sustained critical injuries when the roof of a house collapsed due to heavy rain near Ring Road here on Saturday.

The incident took place in a marriage house owned by Hayatullah, an Afghan refugee.

The dead were identified as Raheema, 80, Ansarullah, 6, Wafia, 5, and Salman aged one year.

Those injured are Safia, Shakeeba, Saifullah, Kalsoom, Adil, Shafiullah, Hayat Khan, Haji Khan Jan and Gul Zeera. Those died and injured were guests, who had gathered from different localities to attend the marriage ceremony.

All of them were asleep in a room when roof collapsed in the early morning. Soon after the incident, the neighbours rushed to the spot and retrieved the killed and injured persons from the debris.

The injured were rushed to Lady Reading Hospital.

RAIN: Rain lashed the city and other parts of the province on Friday night and Saturday morning. According to Met office the city received 14.7mm rain that brought pleasant change in the weather.

Tribal areas also received heavy rain.

Lowari Top also received first snowfall of the season, according to the information gathered from Met office.
