KARACHI: PTCL claims damages

KARACHI, Nov 11: The PTCL has billed city district government for Rs785,800 for the repair of its network which was damaged by its contractor, Crescent Construction, between Sharafabad and Buhadarabad Chowrangi.

During development work between Sharafabad and Buhadarabad Chowrangi on Thursday, the PTCL network was damaged and as a result its service to some 150 subscribers in the area suffered suspension and PTCL had to face big loss.

The PTCL said it has started restoration work on Saturday to ensure speedy provision of its communication facility in the affected area.

Meanwhile, a person trying to cut PTCL underground cable near Sanober Cottage, North Karachi, was caught red-handed by the PTCL’s New Karachi Exchange staff.

A spokesman STR-III said D.E. Phones Waqar Hafiz immediately reported the matter to New Karachi Police and handed the criminal to them. The accused during initial investigation revealed the names of those to whom they had sold the cables.—APP/PPI
