SHIKARPUR, Nov 8: Central leaders of Pakistan People’s Party on Tuesday condemned the sale of Sindh’s islands to a foreign firm and proposed construction of Kalabagh dam and greater Thal canal.

Addressing a public meeting, part of electioneering for the by-elections, they criticised the Sindh governor for allegedly disposing of the province’s lands at the behest of federal government. They accused the rulers of meting out step-motherly attitude towards Sindh and damaging constitutional, democratic, moral and legal values.

They said that PPP founder Z. A. Bhutto sacrificed his life but did not compromise on principles because he was sincere in improving the socio-economic condition of people. They appealed to party workers to get united against anti-Sindh projects.

PPP Sindh president Qaim Ali Shah, MNA Khursheed Shah, Aftab Shaban Mirani, Junaid Soomro, Wahid Bux Bhayo, Qazi Hafeezur Rehman, PPP candidate Agha Taimoor Khan, Qazi Naeem Akbar, Mushtaq Surahiyo, Ghafar Memon and Deedar Memon spoke on the occasion.
