HYDERABAD, Nov 7: On a call of the Anti-Greater Thal Canal and Kalabagh Dam Action Committee, processions were taken out in district headquarters of Sindh in protest against the planned sale of two islands off Karachi coast to a foreign company.

Leaders of nationalist parties severely criticised the government for auctioning the property of Sindh without taking the people of Sindh into confidence.

In Hyderabad, activists of the PPP, STP and Awami Tehrik staged a protest sit-in outside the press club and raised slogans against the sale of the islands.

PPP leader Amanullah Siyal said that the party would support democratic and people-friendly parties who were struggling for the rights of Sindh and the Sindhi people.

He accused the rulers of trying to divide Sindh through the sale of its properties to the outsiders.

Awami Tehrik leader Ayaz Latif Palijo said that despite differences in ideologies and party programmes, the Sindhis were united to protect their rights.

Sindh Water Committee leader Nazeer Memon, STP leader Sachal Gopang, World Sindhi Congress leader Rehmatullah Hisbani, AT leaders Vishnumal and Dewan Arumal and PPP leader Pasha Qazi also spoke on the occasion.

KHAIRPUR: Activists of the Anti-Greater Thal Canal and Kalabagh Dam Action Committee marched on roads and gathered at the Punj Gulla chowk.

The leaders said that the government despite protest was selling Sindh's resources to foreign companies.

THATTA: Activists of the Awami Tehrik and Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum observed a hunger strike outside the Thatta press club.

Awami Tehrik leaders Dada Qadir Ranto, Gul Hassan Kerano and Bilawal Lashari said that the Sindhi nation would not remain silent spectator on the usurpation of Sindh’s rights.

Accusing the Sindh governor, they said that he was serving the agenda of an ethnic group and under a conspiracy Sindhis were being converted into a minority.

NAWABSHAH: Activists of the PPP, PML-N and STP took out a procession in protest against the sale of coastal land and island of Sindh to foreign company.

They said that the Sindh chief minister was destroying Sindh through his acts and it would not be accepted.

Activists of the Awami Tehrik also observed a token hunger strike against the sale of islands to foreign company.

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: About 300 activists of the PPP, Awami Tehrik and STP led by PPP district president Abdul Haq Bhurut and Dr Abdul Qadeer took out a procession.

The leaders said that the islands were the property of Sindhi people.

BADIN: Activists of nationalist and other political parties took out a procession which started from the Qattar mosque and reached the Shah Latif road.

PPP Badin district general secretary Ghafoor Nizamani, Awami Tehrik leader Hakeem Halepoto and STP leader Shahnawaz Sial led the protesters. They condemned the decision of the government to sale Sindh’s lands for new township in Karachi.

DADU: The procession, led by PPP MNA Rafique Ahmed Jamali, started from the municipal park and terminated at the press club.

Rafique Jamali said that islands were the property of Sindh and Sindhi people hence they would protect their property.

Hundreds of activists of the STP and Awami Tehrik took out a procession and held a demonstration outside the press club to protest against the sale of islands and construction of greater Thal canal.

JACOBABAD: The procession was started from the Shaheed Allah Bux Soomro park.

The protesters carried banners, placards and raised slogans against the government and marched on different roads of the city. They blocked the Quetta road for half an hour.

MIRPURKHAS: Activists of the Awami Tehrik observed a token hunger strike on Tuesday at the post office chowk in protest against handing over of two Islands of Sindh to a foreign firm.
