Prize bond dealer too powerful

Published November 7, 2006

SARGODHA, Nov 6: Police detained a prize bond dealer and his men after they held a four-member police team hostage which raided their shops on charges of running a fake prize bond numbers business. Reports said the policemen in civvies entered Baber prize bond dealer’s shop at Alfaisal Bazaar but the dealer and his men pulled down the shutter and locked them inside after they identified themselves.

A large contingent of police encircled the entire bazaar and got the policemen released after marathon negotiations.

The police later arrested 10 people, including the dealer.

At the time of filing this report, a large number of ‘supporters’ of the dealer were present in and outside the city police station to get the accused released.
