This was stated by Pakistan Poultry Association chairman Mir Tahir Zaidi while talking to Dawn here on Sunday.

The association chairman said that the livestock secretary had assured him that diagnostic laboratories would be set up in two cities with an object to diagnose diseases of chicks, monitoring of their diseases under normal condition and surveillance.

He said that funds for this purpose would be released within few days. The purpose of establishing these laboratories was to facilitate the poultry industry in south Punjab.

Mr Zaidi said that a three-member committee of the Pakistan Poultry Association has been formed after the approval of laboratories.

He said the committee would prepare the list of instruments and equipment necessary for laboratories for sending it to the Livestock department.
