KARACHI, Nov 4: The Pakistan International Airline has started complete refurbishment of its Boeing 747 aircraft. A spokesman for the airline said that the work on the first aircraft, which was inducted in the airline’s fleet in September 2,006, had been completed.

He said that during the refurbishment, entire cabin was renovated with new seat covers and carpet.

“The exterior appearance of aircraft has also been reworked with new tail and livery”, he added.

The spokesman said the aircraft would now be ready for operation to all destinations, including Europe, within next week.

“The renovation and improved appearance will help the PIA overcome the objections by certain European countries during the SAFA inspection”, he said and added that Pakistan International Airline had to redeploy Boeing 777 and Airbus 310 to European routes for providing ground time to Boeing 747 for refurbishment, and to meet the necessary capacity requirements.

The spokesman said that after the refurbishment, the Pakistan International Airline planned to redeploy Boeing 747 on European routes to maintain capacity and frequency.
