LAHORE, Nov 4: Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (Smeda) is presently working on the development of a strategy to woo more investment in the trucking sector under National Trade Corridor (NTC) programme.

“The strategy when evolved will help attract new investment for truck fleet modernisation,” General Manager Business

Development Services, Smeda, Sultan Tiwana said while talking to newsmen here on Saturday.

Under the National Trade Corridor Improvement Programme (NTCIP), the government was addressing the issues confronting the road freight sector, which was presently responsible to carry almost 95 per cent of the country’s overland freight.

About National Transport Scheme, Mr Tiwana said that the city bus service introduced under Smeda’s Transport Strategy, was much better than those in other South Asian countries.

He said that one village, one product or Aik Hunar, Aik Nagar (AHAN) project would help provide the country’s rural products access to world markets.
