GUJRAT, Nov 1: The son of former district naib nazim Syed Noorul Hasan Shah and nephew of ex-MNA Syed Manzoor Shah (late) was kidnapped and later murdered by some men of Keeranwala and Qulewal Syedan over suspicion of his involvement in a murder case on Wednesday.

Mandi Bahauddin Saddar police had registered a case against Saadat Shah of Mong, two women and four unidentified accused for killing Keeranwala Zakat and Ushr committee chairman Abid Shah on Oct 20. According to the FIR No 758, Abid Shah was on his way by his car (IDH-7163) when some motorists intercepted him and killed him.

The FIR said the attackers were riding in a car (LWL-3548). The case was registered on the complaint of slain’s brother Waqar Shah, a head-constable deployed at Lalamusa Saddar police station. Another brother of the slain, Shahid Shah, is a naib nazim from Machiwal UC.

The complainant party suspected that Waqar Haider Shah alias Qari Shah, son of Noor Shah, was involved in the murder as attackers’ vehicle belonged to him. Investigating SI Zafar and other policemen had picked up Qari Shah from Rawalpindi on Tuesday. They were bringing him back to Mandi police station when the complainant party attacked the police team and kidnapped Waqar Shah at gunpoint near Gujjar Khan.

Later, they murdered him and threw his body at a deserted place near Gujjar Khan the same day. The Shah family was only aware of his kidnapping when Lalamusa Saddar police conducted a raid at the outhouse of Syed Ibrar Shah alias Baray Shah at Qulewal Syedan on Wednesday. Baray Shah and his men opened fire on the police which was returned. Baray Shah surrendered after a brief shootout. Ibrar Shah disclosed during interrogation that the complainant party of Keeranwala had murdered Waqar Shah. On his indication, the family and area police found the body of Waqar Shah near Gujjar Khan.

It is the second major murder of Shahs of Qulewal Syedan during the last two years.

Last year, former MNA Syed Manzoor Husain Shah and his three companions were gunned down by Dholas over an old enmity.
