SHEIKHUPURA, Oct 31: Four robbers shot dead a youth on offering resistance near Murada Kalan on Sharaqpur Road, some 12km away from here on Tuesday. Reports said two friends Dr Talib Husain and Sohail Ahmad on a motorcycle were going on Sheikhupura-Sharaqpur Road. Near Murada Kalan, the dacoits intercepted them and tried to loot them. Sohail Ahmad put up resistance on which the bandits opened fire, injuring him critically.

He was removed to Mayo hospital, Lahore where doctors pronounced him dead. The deceased was the only brother of three sisters and going to be married after a month.

It was learnt that the incidence of robberies had increased on Sharaqpur Road. Before this incident, bandits had robbed many passers-by, including a woman, of their valuables. Villagers of the area have protested against the incident and demanded early arrest of the accused.

In another incident, a woman was shot dead in Manawala, Nankana Sahib while her two sons suffered critical injuries over a street dispute on Tuesday.

Reports said Sadaqat and four others constructed a house and narrowed the street. Razia Bibi and her sons Ishfaq and Tanvir raised objections on which they opened fire, killing the woman and injuring her sons. Manawala police are investigating.

Meanwhile, Sadar Sheikhupura police on Tuesday recovered body of youth Saqalain alias Nadeem who had gone missing three days ago.
