GUJRANWALA, Oct 31: Alipur Chattha police registered a murder case against an MPA, his two sons and relatives on Tuesday. Police said there was a dispute of agricultural land between ruling party MPA Nasir Cheema and Zulfiqar Ali, Muhammad Iqbal, etc. Zulfiqar went to take possession of the land in Kotli Kahlon village along with his men on a court decision in his favour.
The MPA’s sons and relatives opened fire on them, killing Zulfiqar on the spot and injuring his brother Iqbal.
The injured was rushed to hospital in critical condition.
Police registered case against the MPA, his sons Jamal and Bilal, nephew Asif Tausif Cheema and a dozen others without any arrest.
Police have been deployed in the village to avoid any untoward incident.
CLASH: Five people, including two constables and nazim of a union council, were injured in a clash over dispute of aerial firing in a marriage ceremony in the Sabzi Mandi area on Tuesday.
Police said some miscreants were firing shots in the air in the marriage ceremony of one Rizwan Gujjar.
Baghbanpura SHO Inspector Nawaz Sial was passing from there along with his staff. He caught two youths, Irfan and Kaka Butt, and recovered a gun and a pistol from their possession.
In the meantime, some participants in the marriage ceremony snatched official rifles from constables Ehsan and Saghir Ahmad and gave them sound beating.
Later, staff from different police stations raided the place and beat up the participants as a result of which union council nazim Advocate Waqar Butt and four other people suffered injuries.
Police registered a case against 25 people, including bride Rizwan Gujjar and nazim, and arrested Irfan and Yousaf.
HANGED: A condemned prisoner was hanged in the district jail here on Tuesday.
Convict Ashraf had killed Ashraf Bath in Bhoma Bath village, Alipur Chattha, during a dacoity bid and injured his wife Razia in 1993.
He disappeared and courted arrested after seven years of the incident.
The court handed him down death sentence. The Lahore High Court, Supreme Court and president rejected his appeals.
Ashraf’s body was handed over to his nephew Afzal.
