PESHAWAR, Oct 31: NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani has expressed the hope that more development plans will be executed and the ongoing schemes will be completed in time after the release of the province’s share in the hydroelectric power profit.

Talking to members of the provincial assembly in his chamber here on Tuesday, the chief minister said his government had put the province on a right direction leading to economic prosperity and development.

He said the amount of profit would be utilised for the betterment and wellbeing of the masses and the province would get rid of internal and external debt after the implementation of the award in this regard.

Terming the decision of arbitration commission as a victory for the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal government, Mr Durrani said it would help generate job opportunities and create new avenues of development. He said providing facilities and basic amenities to the people was the top priority of his government and the role of elected representatives in this respect could not be ignored.

He appreciated the MPAs’ role in solving the problems faced by people of their areas and said they took keen interest in development activities.

The chief minister said the schemes initiated by his government would bring real development in the province.

He said his government had also taken realistic steps for attaining the provincial rights.

He appealed to the MPAs to make their bonds with the masses strong and take concrete measures for addressing the grievances of people.

BAJAUR ACTION: Talking to media representatives later, the chief minister said the provincial assembly had unanimously passed a resolution condemning the Bajaur operation in which innocent children had been killed.

“In this resolution we have expressed our feelings and reaction to the world and the government. What happened in Bajaur is an injustice and innocent students were made target in the attack,” he said.—PPI
